  7.     It's not enough for Connecticut Governor Lowell Weicker
  8. to enjoy opera from his car stereo. He likes to get in on the
  9. act as well. He'll make his singing debut this week in the
  10. Connecticut Opera's production of The Barber of Seville.
  11. Disgruntled taxpayers may have a say on the stage too. Weicker's
  12. role as chief of police calls for him to get a cream pie smacked
  13. in his face, and the opera company ran a contest to find two
  14. lucky constituents to do the honors. Says Weicker: "If it
  15. expands the message of culture around the state, it's well worth
  16. it."
